I may be a West Conshohocken Personal Trainer now, but believe me, it wasn’t always that way. In fact, it wasn’t too long ago that I was the most overweight person I knew, and I had extremely low self-esteem.
Check what I looked like then
I probably would have stayed that way for a long time were it not for one day in 2003 when I happened to see my profile as I lumbered out of a Cracker Barrel restaurant.
It was jaw dropping.
I couldn’t believe what I saw in my reflection staring back at me. The weight had piled up so gradually, I hadn’t even realized how bad it had gotten.
That night, I absolutely reached my limit. I decided I was sick of suffering so much because of my excess weight, and I would do everything in my power to get into shape. As this point, I didn’t really know anything about fitness, but I did exactly what I thought I supposed to do: go the gym and exercise a lot.
And that is exactly what I did. I spent an unbelievable amount of time at the gym, doing routines I learned from magazines. But for reason, even after a long time of doing everything I though I should, I showed absolutely no progress. In fact, some people even though I quit going to the gym, even though I hadn’t.
I almost gave up, thinking that maybe I just wasn’t cut out to be fit. But I knew there had to be some way you could get into shape. So I decided I would become as knowledgeable as I possibly could about health and fitness. I began devouring every single book and magazine I could on subject, reading for hours every day after work until I couldn’t even keep my head up.
As I continued educating myself, I became more and more shocked by what I was learning. All that advice I had briefly picked up the magazines before were positively worthless. I was eating wrong and exercising wrong, even though I was doing everything the magazines told me.
Equipped with this new knowledge, I began doing everything right, and just like I knew I would, I dropped the weight fantastically fast, and even built up some muscle.
These techniques helped me lose one hundred and forty three pounds of pure fat.
Pretty big difference, huh? My friends thought so too. When they saw what I had done to my body in such a short period of time, they starting inquiring to how I did it. I gladly offered them a few strategies and tips, not really thinking much of it at the time.
Months later, these people would come back to me and thank me profusely for everything I told them because they were able to lose weight that they were struggling with for years.
This led me to two thoughts
- If just a few simple tips could help these people get into the best shape of their lives, imagine what I could do by giving these people more through advice.

So I got certified as a personal trainer, started Moore Than Fitness training, and made helping people with fitness training my missions in life.
